The city has a total population of 71,476. The Greenville Metro Area includes approximately 148,000 residents. It is the county seat of
Pitt County and the home of East Carolina University.

individuals and 6.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family
size is 2.91.
In the city the population is spread out with 18.8% under the age of 18, 28.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 15.5% from 45 to 64,
and 8.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 26 years. For every 100 females there are 86.2 males. For every 100
females age 18 and over, there are 82.9 males.
