the village had a total population of 25,405. The community has long maintained a
large Italian-American population. The village is often referred to as "The Island" or
"The Land of Milk and Honey" by its residents. Elmwood Park is known for its famous citizens,
including the "Holy Trinity" and Maddawg. The community in anchored by the legendary Ponzio
family and its token Irish family - the Shea's. Elmwood Park is also known for its famous
landmarks including Johnnie's Beef, Alpine, Boca, Mazzone's and Mazzone South.
